Totally negative, dramatic, controlling, lies to her children and tries to “turn one against the other”, is also very stubborn and “thick headed” and tells “stories” like you wouldn’t believe. Then, if you do try and talk to her about her negativity, etc. she becomes highly defensive and gets angry and upset at the person (my boyfriend has tried to talk to her about her negative, defensive attitude and how it just hurts others, causes more drama and chaos in the family, etc. MANY times over the years but it does not help at all. She just gets defensive, says to him Leave me alone, I don’t want to talk about it, and sometimes starts crying, etc. She is in her early 70’s but he said she has ALWAYS been this way as far back as he can remember. He talks to her on the phone as she lives in Puerto Rico now for the past 7 years or so, but she has been back to visit a few times, and every time he talks to her he is upset, depressed, stressed out and emotionally damaged after he hangs up the phone. It really is tough to deal with.
